Peace Muhagachi is the new generalist here at Cora Dale House. Peace’s pronouns are she/her and they/them. Peace grew up in Dodoma, Tanzania, until she was 15. Then her family moved to the United States, to Elkhart County. Over the years she and her family moved back and forth between the two. She is able to speak two languages fluently, English and Swahili, and is learning Spanish. Peace graduated high school from Bethany and recently graduated from Goshen College with a major in sociology.
When asked why she wanted to work at Cora Dale House, she said that she had seen the position on a website and thought it was awesome. The Clubhouse aligned with her personal values. She likes working with people and getting to know their stories. She also feels like the model is unique and something she wants to be a part of. ―I think it’s changing society’s view of mental illness for the better, and I love what Clubhouse stands for.
To wind down and relax Peace likes to watch movies, go to parks, and hang out with friends. Sometimes her friend group likes to have arts and crafts nights. For self-care, she settles down with a face mask, paints her nails, and watches a movie with a snack. Some of her favorite foods include barbeque brisket and ribs. Music-wise, she likes the artist Björk and likes 80’s disco pop. In her spare time her hobbies include crocheting and bicycling. Peace is also double-jointed (ask her to show you). She also enjoys singing and listening to music.
Peace would like us to know that working at Cora Dale has helped her with family, and being here has made her more aware of how mental illness affects them. One of her biggest values in life is ―"not judging others and letting people know that they can be open with me."
