This December 25, we celebrated Christmas at the Clubhouse from 10am to 2pm. Since the holidays tend to be a particularly difficult time for those with a history of mental illness, and having no one to celebrate with can feel isolating, it’s very important for us to gather for holidays on the actual day they occur. There were approximately 55 people who attended of which included members and family/friends. There was turkey, stuffing, desserts, collard greens, green bean casserole, and Mindy’s sweet corn. I took a turkey home and cooked it, but had

the turkey, a new experience all in its self. When asking Sean what his favorite part of the meal was he answered that it was everyone coming together as one big family. He loved the very homey feel and that there was no bickering.

We had Christmas lights, the Christmas tree, and decorated tables. I believe the Christmas dinner was a HUGE hit. All our tables were filled with loved ones while laughter and Christmas music played in the background. A truly nice sight having the house filled with as many people that there was. The holidays always make the most beautiful atmosphere for personal relationships to begin and grow.
