Donna Anderson has been a valued member of the Clubhouse for about 12 years. She was introduced to the Clubhouse through David George and Brian Martin, who she met at NAMI and DBSA meetings. Donna loves the supportive, nonjudgmental environment at the Clubhouse, where she feels seen and understood by peers who are going through similar experiences. One of Donna's favorite ways to get involved is by organizing the clothing closet, as she enjoys bringing order to the space. She finds joy in both giving and receiving clothes, fostering a sense of community. When she first joined the Clubhouse, Donna was struggling with depression, so the Clubhouse has been a blessing for her by providing a real purpose. Whether that is through simple tasks like doing the dishes or connecting with others.
At home, Donna has a 4-month-old Golden Retriever named Rusty, who brings extra joy to her life. In addition to her work at the Clubhouse, Donna is passionate about comedy. Inspired by her mother, she loves storytelling, especially drawing material from her job as a lunch lady at school. Her comedy, which ranges from clean to naughty, often features funny
moments from her life.
For Donna, laughter is a form of medicine that brings healing. She shares one of her jokes for us: "I love bumper stickers like „Honk if you love Jesus.‟ Yeah, text and drive, and you'll meet him." We're grateful for Donna's presence at the Clubhouse and for the positivity and humor she brings to our community!
