On Tuesday, July 15, a group of 9 colleagues went to Wellfield Botanic Gardens for a tour
with Kyle Strain. Kyle is a Cora Dale House member who also works at the Gardens. The
new construction that happened during our visit last year has been completed. Now they
have a fancy new welcome center, and the gardens are beautiful. There were many
different types of native and non-native plants. Some interesting finds included the
carnivorous plants, the sensory garden, and the Japanese garden. The garden was a great
learning experience and fun to explore, especially since the tour was given by Kyle. He
showed us his knowledge on the different plants and gardens. We even got to see parts of
the gardens that he designed.
If you are an Elkhart County resident with a state ID or driver's license, you can attend for
free during the summer on Tuesdays. Don’t forget to check the recreation cards for details
about any recreations you may be interested in attending. We can’t wait to see you and
hope you come out for the next one! - Parker Jack
